So far, we don’t know too many details approx the upcoming new production of the famous crossover-wagon, but we are pretty sure that Subaru is departing to stick to some of its proven formatting solutions. The new shape shouldn’t drastically innovations in terms of stocks design characteristics. Still, it evidence get a new platform, improved styling, and interior. Finally, expect to see a completely new locomotive in the offer, which should raise the driving complexity on the even higher level.
The most important novelty for the new 2020 Subaru Outback will be a new architecture. The new generation of this famous crossover will adopt the company’s new, highly modular platform that is already in use for models like Impreza and Forester. It will bring a lot of improvement in terms of drive quality. Another interesting thing about this architecture is that it is also suitable for electrifications. So, we could see a hybrid powertrain in the future as well. On the other side, styling probably won’t bring any radical change. In this aspect, Subaru is more like a German brand, which sticks to the conservative styling philosophy, carefully evaluating the current design language.
Same goes for the interior design. Subaru has never been known for some attractive dashboard layouts. It rather focuses on functionality, than on the style. Therefore, the dashboard might not be the prettiest in the class, but the overall cabin will be spectacular in many ways, starting from the interior space and cargo capacity. Also, count on Subaru’s latest tech features, including the famous EyeSight suite of safety and driver-assist systems. Some of the highlights of this suite are Lane Keep Assist, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, and Lead Vehicle Start Alert. Also, count of a large touchscreen interface, smartphone integration, navigation and much more.
This is the aspect of the car that is about to bring some very interesting changes. The most important novelty is definitely a new 2.5-liter turbo inline-four engine, which has a max output of 260 horsepower. Considering that the current six-cylinder unit delivers around 252, there is a big possibility that the famous inline-six won’t be in the offer anymore. This would be a real shame, considering its flat-six design. The current model also offers a naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine with around 175 horsepower. This unit will probably carry on, though most likely with some power boost. All engines will come with a CVT and all-wheel-drive system as standard features.
